Spring Forward

June 28, 2010

I know you probably think it’s too early to be thinking about next Spring, but some Bride’s don’t.  Here is a recent sample for an Atlanta Bride.

David and I were fortunate enough to visit one of our favorite places recently, The Ritz Carlton on Amelia Island.  Breathtaking views everywhere!

Color Color Everywhere!

June 11, 2010

Remembering that Ms. Paula Deen’s sons, Jamie and Bobby’s Good Cooking magazine was still waiting to be read, I decided to give my mind a break from thinking about weddings and color and do what any self respecting Southern Girl would do, bake something!  Orange-Ricotta Pound Cake is calling my name.  Sorry boys, but I had to make a couple of changes to your recipe.  Not having 3 cups of ricotta, I used 2 plus and cup of sour cream.  Instead of orange zest, I substitutted lemon zest and had to substitute vanilla extract for the orange.  So my variation was kind of a citrus-ricotta pound cake.  Despite the changes, as usual with any delicacy the Deen’s whip up, it is marvelous!

So, how is it that while trying to take my mind off of weddings and color, I still ended up with beautiful individual Citrus Ricotta Pound Cakes that would be a marvelous favor for a beautiful wedding of yellow, gray, black and white?

40th Birthday Surprise

June 8, 2010

Wow!  This 40th Birthday Surprise invitation was so much fun to create.  The party was a Cirque themed party complete with a circus tent, magician, stilt walker and fire spinner.  The invitation was a custom created gatefold card with mask on the front that teased, “What Mysteries Await” when opened revealed stage curtains opening to the details of the party, complete with a small decorative mask encrusted with Swaroski crystals.  Happy Birthday Kim!
