In 25 Years of Service

January 10, 2018

I was completely honored, when I was approached by Family Compass in Dallas to create the invitations for their 25th Anniversary year Legends and Lights event that also coincided with National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  The event was held at  Altitude | W Dallas and was emceed by local WFAA television personality Colleen Coyle.  The evening was a chance to mingle with local legends and celebrities and bring awareness to children in need and the services available to them through Family Compass.  Included in the evening: hor d’oeuvres, cocktails, silent and live auctions, followed by dancing and entertainment.

Continued success to Family Compass as they continue their mission to build healthy families across North Texas, by preventing child abuse and neglect.  Please visit Family Compass  and consider making them part of your personal mission.

These Hands

January 10, 2018

These Hands

Jenny, these are the hands of your best friend,
young and strong, vibrant with love.
Hands that are holding your hands on your wedding day,
as he promises to love you all the days of his life.
These are the hands that will work alongside yours,
as you build your life together, as you laugh and cry,
as you share your innermost secrets and dreams.
These are the hands that look so large and strong
yet will be so gentle as he tenderly holds your children.

Jacob, these are the hands of your best friend,
the hands that will love and cherish you through the years
and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other.
These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.
Most importantly, these are the hands, that even when wrinkled with age,
will still be reaching for yours, giving you the same unspoken tenderness,
with just a touch.

On a beautiful, chilly, Dallas December evening, joined by their friends and family, Jenny and Jacob said their “I do’s”

Everything about this ceremony and reception spoke to their love of family and their love of outdoors.  On this chilly evening, their guests were welcomed to their lakeside seats with hot cider and hand tied blankets (which the couple donated to Family Gateway, a Homeless Shelter for Children and Families in Dallas, after the reception).  The Bride wore a beautiful lace illusion, long sleeved wedding gown with a full veil attached to a crown of miniature white roses and baby’s breath that had been worn by her mother on her wedding day. The Bridesmaids were in pink with grey pashmina wraps.  The Groom wore a vintage slim-fit blue sharkskin suit and his Groomsmen were in grey sharkskin suits.  The Groom and Groomsmen wore green with blue stripe silk ties, complete with recycled skateboard tie clasps (which were a gift from the Groom) The evening was full of surprises, laughter, tears and dancing.  Everything at the reception spoke to their love of the outdoors.  The Wedding Cake was a three tiered Aspen tree cake with their initials J+J carved in a heart, while the Groom’s cake was a skateboard.  The Wedding Favors were a collection of their favorite songs from The Guardians of the Galaxy on a custom wooden USB card complete with their wedding logo and picture.  After all the guests had left the reception to take their places outside for a sparkler send off, the Bride and Groom stayed behind as they were turning down the lights and shared one last dance to music only they could hear, to take a moment to remember such a special day.  The lovely couple Honeymooned, where else…In Colorado!

This Wedding Invitation Suite was one of my most challenging projects to date.  The Bride chose pink peonies, complimented with natural wood and Kraft as her color theme for the invitations.  The invitation was printed in white ink, with the couples wedding logo, on real wood veneer.  The RSVP, Details and Envelope Liners were printed in pink with peonies, and their envelopes in Kraft with White ink.
